Coffee now, plzkthx.

In an unusual twist on reality today, Teh 1!!1 actually realized I had overslept, and woke me up before I was terribly late to work. This is unusual only in that the entire concept of her awakening before me has no precident - most mornings, it takes a combination of cold water, shouts in the ears, and jabs to the babymaker in order to get her to crawl out of bed. My head is foggy, and I have this unnatural desire to find a comfortable spot amongst the pallets in the back and get another 13-14 hours in. But seeing as how I can’t do that while trying to do two jobs at once today, I shall suffer alone, but rejoyce in the knowledge that I made you read this post, so you may commisserate with me.

At any rate, for those of you who missed it, here’s the big secret Teh 1!!1 was alluding to: we have a roof. This actually did for me what I hoped it would, which is not make me feel like I was making a 30 year purchase on a rather small, strangely walled basketball court. There’s months to go still, but now it feels real, where it hadn’t felt that way to me before then. I’ve never been good with abstract concepts, and I guess buying what was more or less a vacant lot with some construction materials on it didn’t quite make the impact it should have. Maybe I needed more caffeine then as well.

  1. Man was I wrong…

    When’s the cabling party?

  2. Perhaps you thought I’d had one too many “jabs to the babymaker”??

  3. Actually my first thought was that there was something sparkly on your finger.

But I couldn’t see anything like that in the photos (you said it was big and hard to miss), so then I thought it might be a new car. I couldn’t tell if the one in the new pics was the same as the one in the previous shots.

  4. The spatial thing was strange when my house was being built. The bare slab looked huge. Then they framed in the walls and the house seemed tiny. When the roof went on it became “normal”.

Though pulling a few hundred feet of cable made me confront the actual size of the place.

  5. Nope, no shiny thing on my finger.. *grumble* Don’t get me started or I WILL make my own blog!! You have been warned!

  6. Promises, promises…

  7. Isn’t that sparkly thing on your finger supposed to be a surprise? Seems more romantic that way…../shrug

What theme are you going to go with for the living room…? Seeing as how my house is half torn apart with rennovations - I seem to be the expert on the subject as of late. Can give you tons of ideas for places to check, if ya need !
Brett, hun, update more or you will never shut any of us up =P

  8. There will be no “themes” in our house!! Color schemes or patterns perhaps, but neither of us in into “themes” very much.

As for the sparkley, the only surprise there is how soon. :)

  9. Wuwu! He asked you? Right on ! =) Wasn’t aware of that! Congrats!

  10. No, he didn’t ask me nuffin. But we are adults and we have compared notes on the topic, just to be sure we were both on the same page, as it were.

  11. Go with a “Cluttered” theme. Everyone likes that.

  12. Cluttered only works for men =P
We don’t have themes, either, just color schemes. As you will see when ya come out. Our house is half done atm, front porch torn off, excavating the yard, painting to be done, etc… But ehh slowly, but surely, it comes together. Time seems to be the killer on these things =P
Having hardwood floors makes the color schemes a little easier to decide, tho. Cream + hardwood = Warm, in a house. /shrug

  13. Brett and I do cluttered very well. It tends to decorate itself. We were hoping for something more trendy in our new house, perhaps something in a cool blue. I’m leaving the kitchen up to him though. I’m anticipating a very masculine steel on wood look, with just a touch of clutter to make it “real”.
