For your consideration

Vegas pics are up. That is all.

I’d sell my soul for an X-Box

But I’d rather be saved and get a PS2!

Bright light city, gonna set my soul…

I meant to put this up yesterday, but forces beyond my control prevented me from being able to get to it. The price of being needed, I suppose.

Yes, we’re back from beautiful Las Vegas, Nevada, a little lighter in the pockets than we left, but happy (mostly), both for the experience, and to be back. We stayed at the Golden Nugget, one of the hotels on Fremont Street in downtown LV. The Nugget is quite nice - surprising for a downtown hotel, since all the other downtown hotels are utter dumps. During our all too brief stay, we took a walking tour of the strip (from Circus Circus to New York, New York), passing through several of the hotels, like Bellagio Bellagio and Paris Paris along the way; went to see Penn and Teller (and got autographs to boot - take that, bitches!); tried to figure out why they locked the doors and posted police officers at the doors to Binion’s Horseshoe, located across the street from the Nugget (answer - Uncle Sam came a-knockin’); ate way too much buffet; and watched Carolina learn the joys of nickel slots and comp cards.

I did not, however, get a chance to play Hold-em. Binion’s is the only hotel on Fremont with a poker room, apparently. That figures. However, I did get to spend some quality time with the Elvis slot machine, which promptly decided to give me back the money my baby decided to lose at the nickels. Very thoughtful, that Elvis. Normally, I avoid slots at all costs, but the Elvis machine has a bonus where you not only get a random amount of coins (in this case, quarters) but you also get to see Elvis perform one of his songs right there on the little monitor. Sweeeeeeet.

They also had a Price is Right machine with Cliff Hangers, the greatest pricing game ever, as it’s bonus game. Alas, they were all nickel slots, and I can’t bring myself play those.

There was an additional unexpected bonus to our trip - we planned it (accidentally, I swear) on the same weekend as the Consumer Electronics Show. This bonus didn’t manifest itself until Sunday, in the form of a two hour line to get to the security screeners. I have never - and I mean EVER - waited for so long for something that didn’t involve naked women.

Did I say naked women? I meant roller coasters. Sorry.

Anyway, I’ll put up the pictures tonight when I get home, assuming I remember and don’t do something silly like pass out when I get home. Got a few good ones - nothing Biggart-worthy, mind you, but they’re not bad, either.

And no, we did not “see Elvis”. Not yet.

I have seen the glory

So, they shut off my cable modem over the weekend. It’s a long and complicated story, but basically it has to do with a five year old debt to the cable company (a write off from a breakup that never got paid…those things seem to keep haunting me for some reason) and my registration for free cable, which I am entitled to as an employee of a cable contractor. I got the mixup cleared up Monday, and thus was able to renew my primary passion for life, which is avoiding this webite at all costs. This passion will only be fueled thanks to my new “other woman” - my new DVR! (Cue “Price Is Right” win music.) It’s hella sweet, and only made sweeter by it’s fat price tag - 0$ a month. (Cue “Price is Right” win music.) It is a wonder to behold. And I’m sure I’ll get a chance to use it as long as Carolina doesn’t figure out how to record every L&O:SVU episode.

Ironically, I actually got some work done on a site redesign as a result of this downtime, and if I ever get the impetus to finish it up, you’ll see some interesting changes here. I know I’ve said this, what, hundreds of thousands of times before, but since there’s actual work behind it, there may actually be something done this time.

We’re off to beautiful Las Vegas, Nevada this weekend, to soak in some of the fine sights of Sin City, and we just might get in an Elvis sighting. This trip should actually have pictures too - ones we can publish, to boot!
